Testimony Day

Thursday — Testimony Day

Sometimes the most powerful evidence that God's Word is true isn't found in a commentary. It's found in a life. Today, let a real story do what theology alone sometimes can't — give you hope.

Today's Scripture: "While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word." — Acts 10:44 (ESV)

Reflection:
The Holy Spirit fell while Peter was still speaking. Not after the altar call. Not after the membership class. Not after these people had the right credentials or cleaned up their history. In the middle of the message, on hungry and open hearts, the Spirit simply fell.
That's not just a first-century story. It's still happening.

A pastor shared this week about his own journey — decades of addiction, heading the wrong direction, while somewhere behind him, a father was on his knees. For thirty years, that father prayed for a son who showed no signs of turning around. There were probably moments he wondered if it was worth it. Moments of grief when he drove home from a visit and the door felt further away than ever.

And then one day, his son knocked on his door. Sat down at the table. And said, "Dad, I've decided to follow Jesus."

The father grabbed his son's hands, started crying, and spent the next ten minutes in a prayer of thanksgiving that had thirty years of waiting behind it.

The Holy Spirit falls on open hearts. And sometimes the most open heart in the room is the one that's been quietly praying the longest.

Today's Application: Think of someone you've been praying for a long time. Let today's story be a reminder: your prayers are being heard. Don't stop.

A Closing Thought: Your prayers are ascending as a memorial before God — just like Cornelius's were. He hasn't forgotten. He hasn't stopped working.
