Challenge Day
Tuesday — Challenge Day
Have you ever shown up somewhere to serve or love someone, only to realize — somewhere in the middle of it — that you were running on empty?
Today's Scripture: "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him." — Luke 15:20 (NIV)
Reflection: Yesterday we grounded ourselves in the truth that we're called to carry the Father's heart. But here's the honest tension: some days, we don't feel like we have much of anything to offer.
Maybe you're exhausted. Maybe you're carrying your own grief. Maybe someone hurt you this week and the last thing you feel capable of is showing up for someone else with patience and joy and presence.
Here's what's true: the father in Luke 15 wasn't running on willpower. He was running on compassion — a deep, gut-level love that moved him before he could even think about it. That kind of love isn't manufactured. It's received.
We can't give what we haven't been given. The same Father who runs toward the returning son runs toward you — in your depletion, in your grief, in your mess. He doesn't wait until you have it together. He meets you before you even arrive.
The invitation today isn't to try harder. It's to let yourself be found first.
Today's Application: Before you try to pour out today, take five minutes to simply receive — sit quietly, acknowledge your need, and let God's compassion meet you right where you are.
A Closing Thought: You cannot give from an empty place, but you are never far from the One who fills you. Let him run to you today.
