Tuesday — Challenge Day
You're still showing up. Still in the building. But somewhere along the way, something knocked the wind out of you — and you haven't quite gotten all the way back up.
Today's Scripture: "...they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead. However, when the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and went into the city." — Acts 14:19–20
Reflection: Let that land for a moment. Paul — a man who had seen the risen Jesus, a man who had been doing miracles just verses earlier — is lying in the dirt outside the city, stoned, left for dead.
And that's where some of us are this morning. Not physically, but emotionally, spiritually. Maybe it was a relationship that fell apart. A financial situation that never resolved. A family member you've been praying for so long you've quietly stopped expecting anything to change. Maybe something in ministry hurt you. Something disappointed you. And you're still here — but you've pulled back. Pulled back from prayer. From worship. From trusting. From serving.
Here's the hard truth about discouragement: the enemy doesn't always try to destroy you outright. Sometimes he just tries to get you to stay down. To quietly lower your expectations. To decide it's not worth it anymore. Because a discouraged church is almost as ineffective as one that's given up entirely.
But here's what the text says. The disciples gathered around Paul — and he got up.
That's the church. That's what we're for. We cannot do this alone.
Today's Application: Be honest with yourself today: have you pulled back? Identify one specific area — prayer, serving, trusting — and take one small step back toward it.
A Closing Thought: You're still here, and that tells God something. Let him, and the people around you, help you get back up.
