Keep Growing

Scripture: 2 Peter 3:18
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
One of the greatest dangers in the Christian life is becoming satisfied with where we are.

We can know enough Scripture to answer questions.
We can know enough church language to sound spiritual.
We can have enough experience to think we’ve figured things out.
But discipleship never ends.

The world continues changing. Challenges continue changing. Our circumstances continue changing.

So we need to keep growing.
John Maxwell’s statement from the message captures this well:
“We teach what we know, and reproduce who we are.”
That means our spiritual growth isn’t only about us.
What we become is what we reproduce.
If we become bitter, we can reproduce bitterness.
If we become critical, we can reproduce criticism.

But if we become people who forgive, serve, pray, worship, and love, we reproduce those things too.

Paul told Timothy:
“Continue in the things which you have learned…” — 2 Timothy 3:14
Don’t stop growing because you’ve been a Christian for a long time.

Reflection:
If someone followed my example for the next year, would they become more like Jesus?

Prayer:
“Father, don’t let me become comfortable spiritually. Continue shaping me. Give me a hunger for Your Word, a willingness to be corrected, and a desire to become more like Jesus every day. Amen.”

Today’s challenge:
Do something today that intentionally contributes to your spiritual growth—read Scripture, pray, join a Bible study, or ask someone spiritually mature to speak into your life.
