Come to the Table, Not Just the Service

Scripture: Luke 10:41–42
“Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed…”

There is a difference between being in the room and being present.
Martha was physically near Jesus.
But Mary was intentionally sitting at His feet.
Church attendance by itself doesn’t produce discipleship.

You can sit in a chair every Sunday and never become more like Jesus.
You can sing the songs without worshiping.
You can hear the sermon without receiving it.
You can pray without surrendering.
Jesus isn’t simply calling us to show up.
He’s calling us to be present.

That’s why involvement matters.
Bible studies matter.
Prayer gatherings matter.
Serving matters.
Relationships matter.
Small groups matter.
Celebrating one another matters.

These aren’t extra things added onto Christianity.
They are ways we live Christianity together.
Paul says in 1 Corinthians 12 that we are one body with many members.
A body doesn’t function because one part shows up.
It functions because every part participates.

Reflection:
Am I merely attending church, or am I participating in the life of the Body?

Prayer:
“Jesus, move me from being a spectator to being a participant. Show me where I can serve, where I can grow, where I can encourage, and where I can become more connected to Your Body. Amen.”

Today’s challenge:
Take one step deeper: join a group, attend a prayer gathering, volunteer, or intentionally build a relationship with someone in your church family.
