Thursday — Testimony Day
Sometimes the most powerful sermon isn't preached from a pulpit.
Today's Scripture: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." — Romans 8:38–39
Reflection: This week we've been exploring what it looks like to keep the mission alive — through changing circumstances, through the pull toward disunity, through the daily choice to act rather than wait.
Today, we pause to let a life speak.
Her name was Beverly. A pastor walked into a hospital room not knowing her at all — no rehearsed prayer, no plan, just a yes to a phone call. He went to her bedside and began to pray. When he opened his eyes, she was looking straight at him. And those eyes, he said, were saying one thing: Jesus.
Beverly was a baker for over thirty years. She was someone's wife, someone's mother. And in her final hours, her identity wasn't found in any of that — it was rooted in something unshakeable. When a nurse asked what she did for a living, she said she wasn't working there anymore. She knew where she was going.
That is what it looks like to know who you are in Christ. Not a theology you recite, but a foundation so settled that even death can't rattle it.
This is what the mission is for. Not programs or events — but people who know Jesus that completely.
Today's Application: Spend a few minutes today reflecting on your own identity in Christ. Write down one truth about who God says you are and carry it with you through the day.
A Closing Thought: Beverly's life is still preaching. May ours do the same.
